Protecting Your Privacy, One Paw at a Time đŸŸ

Updated on: Sep 30, 2025

At Sniffaloo, your trust is important to us. We collect minimal information and keep it safe, so you can focus on enjoying your pet's adventures worry-free.

Sniffaloo (“we,” “our,” or “us”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting any information you may share with us. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your personal data.

Consent

By using our website, you hereby consent to our Privacy Policy and agree to its terms.

  • Information We Collect

    Information you provide

    • Newsletter: your email address (to send updates and content).
    • Contact form: name, email address, your message, and basic anti-spam/technical metadata (e.g., IP, timestamp, user-agent). We don’t intentionally process data entered into the honeypot field; if it’s filled, we treat the submission as spam.

    Automatically collected (analytics – optional)

When you consent to analytics cookies, we collect pseudonymous usage data to understand how our site is used and to improve it. This may include pages viewed, actions on page, approximate location (country), language, device/browser type, referrer and campaign parameters. IP addresses are anonymized before storage. We don’t use precise geolocation, fingerprinting, or persistent cross-site identifiers.

  • Use of Cookies

We use the following categories of cookies:

    • Essential cookies – needed to operate the site (e.g., remember your cookie choices). These run without consent.
    • Analytics cookies (optional) – set only after you click “Accept” on our cookie banner. These help us measure traffic and improve the site.

Additionally, affiliate partners (e.g., Amazon) may place cookies when you click their links to attribute qualifying purchases. These are governed by the partner’s own privacy policy.

  • Analytics (Google Analytics 4)

We use Google Analytics 4 (“GA4”) to understand site usage and improve content. GA4 is implemented with Consent Mode v2: before you consent, analytics_storage is set to “denied” (no analytics cookies); after consent, GA4 may set cookies and collect usage data as described below.

    • Provider: Google LLC (and Google Ireland Limited in the EEA).
    • Technology: gtag.js with Consent Mode v2; IP anonymization is enabled and we send manual page_view events on route changes.
    • What we collect: page views and events, page path and title, referrer/UTM, language, device/browser type, approximate location (country). We don’t collect precise location or upload information that directly identifies you.
    • Cookies (after consent): GA4 may set _ga and _ga_* (typically up to 2 years). Cookie names/expirations are controlled by Google and may change.
    • Advertising features: We do not enable Google Signals or remarketing/ads personalization for this site.
    • Legal bases: In the EEA/UK/CH we rely on your consent for analytics. Elsewhere, we rely on consent where required by local law.
    • Retention: We keep analytics data in GA4 only as long as necessary for aggregate reporting (retention is set to the shortest practical period).
    • Transfers: Google may process data in the United States and other countries. Appropriate safeguards (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses) apply.
    • Opt-out: You can withdraw consent any time via the cookie banner (when shown) or by clearing cookies in your browser. Google also offers an optional Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
  • How We Use Your Information

    Contact Form

    • To read/respond to your message and manage follow-up.
    • To prevent abuse/spam and keep our service secure.
    • To maintain records of inquiries and improve support.

    Legal bases

    • Consent (checkbox before submitting the form).
    • Legitimate interests (operate, secure, and improve the website; keep reasonable records).
    • Legal obligations (where retention is required by law or to establish/exercise/defend legal claims).

    Recipients & processors

We don’t sell your data. We use trusted processors:

    Retention

If you choose to subscribe to our newsletter:

    • We use your email address only to send you our newsletter and related updates.

    • We will not sell or rent your email address to third parties.
  • Amazon Associates Disclosure & Compliance

Sniffaloo participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. When you click an Amazon link, Amazon may place a cookie to attribute purchases. We do not receive your payment details; purchases occur on Amazon under their privacy practices. Trademarks belong to Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates.

  • Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect data we process from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.

  • Third-Party Links

Our website contains affiliate links to third-party sites. We aren’t responsible for their content or practices; please review their privacy policies.
